I'm in the process of a change over here...and logo creation is the soup de jour...

After reading a couple dozen threads, I've narrowed down the contestants to the 6 mentioned in the threads I read [some were duplicates or triplicates]

[in NO particular order]

KBK Graphicx ~ http://www.kbkgraphx.com/index.html

The Logo Co ~ http://thelogocompany.net/

Rajasandhu ~ http://www.rajasandhu.com/

Logo Pond ~ http://logopond.com/

Sleek Logos ~ http://www.sleeklogos.com/

America's Print Center ~ http://www.americasprintcenter.com/

Who have I missed?

I have NO desire to DIY this thing.

I really like www.99designs.com. You can run a contest and are able to pick from a large number of logos.

Remember to get a logo without to many colors (2 or 3 max) so that the cost of printing isn't to high. It's also good if you have a one color version of the logo for fliers, newspaper, and cheaper t-shirts.

....I just took an image I like...pretty standard. Its on the sweatshirts I just orderd...

Its on my direct mail post cards, my business cards and will be on the side of my truck in a few weeks. It also looks like my webpage guy used it as a side bar on my upcoming website.....we shall see...

The thing that makes KBK jump out to me is his direct marketing background.

Plus his work is nice and he seems to be experienced in this industry.

In all fairness -- I didn't look at all of them as thoroughly.

Neither have I....
I scanned through a ton of threads just grabbing company names....
hoping to get them all under one roof for discussion.

No bait.

Just looking to change logos [among other things].
Based on your thread title, I was expecting an outline of logo rules or something like that. You've probably been down that path already if you've looked at several threads on the subject.

Rather than add to your list, I would just point out the different approaches to logo design.

The one I advise against is where you get x number of concepts, get to choose one, and maybe do a few tweaks, then call it done. It's often packaged to sound a bit more complex, but that's about it.

The approach I favor is when the designer looks at your business, asks questions, studies your market well enough to avoid creating anything that looks similar to someone else's, and only then creates concepts. Those concepts are worked into a final logo based on your input and the designer's knowledge. This one is more complex than it sounds.

I encourage anyone considering a logo to think about the fact that they will likely be using it for years (maybe the life of the business). The process should not be rushed through or treated like something on an assembly line. It's not the cheapest way to do a logo, but if you figure the mileage you get from a logo, it's one of your least expensive investments. Since you will use it on everything, it's worth doing well.

Hopefully this will help for going through any list of providers when you are trying to choose someone.

I thought there was going to be an article in this thread about branding. Or at least have a picture of a cow or something.
Maybe an article about color theory or Isaac Newton. But NOTHING but some old clunkers bruising each others foot.
Did ya'll have your reward?

I worked with keith (not for logo work) for cards, postcards, newspaper ads...good work.

I've recently worked with http://thelogocompany.net/logo-design-prices.htm $149 for logo design, take a look at the portfolio pages, nice stuff.

They also do card, postcards, presentation folders, etc.

I love http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/welcomeback.aspx?xnav=welcome&rd=2 (after logo is completed) for ordering all sorts of stuff, been using them for a few years.

Here's a thread with pics/prices of stuff I've done through vistaprint:

http://www.contractortalk.com/f11/vistaprint-stuff-65937/

They also do logo design, but I've never worked with them on that end.

I used to use VistaPrint extensively. But I found a local printer that pumps things out within 2-3 days. And they even stay open after working hours so I can pick up my order on my way home from work.
