After the Zoo.

So I took my family to the Toledo Zoo today.

Had to stop at Woodcraft in Toledo on our way home.

They didnt have a huge display of my weapon of choice but, they stocked all most every power tool that Festool makes.

Got to see some cool things I have not laid my hands on.

Wanted to get a few more things but, the kid and Mrs. were impaitent.
For the love of God I tramped around all day in the hot sun with them.
I should cut the Mrs. some slack, as she is almost 8 months preggo.

This was my only score, wanted to try a few more things but, had to jet.

These are some pretty bad azz clamps:

Hey Warner, since you seem to be the Festool king maybe you could answer a question or two. I was thinking about getting the TS 55. Would you suggest getting the clamps to go with it or does it work as they say it does without the clamps? I'm concerned the rail would move during a cut on some expensive material.

Also, do the rails stay together well if using 2-55" to cut an 8' sheet of ply?

I love going to Woodcraft, they are only 5 minutes away, only problem is I don't always have the $$$$ to spend on the toys, uh tools, I'd like to get.

Thanks,
Bill

The rails only really seem to get a bit loose on solid surface material (corion, avonite, lg..)

Sometimes the sheet is a bit warped or something and the clamps help out. Are they nessacary? Not really. Just get the 2 pack of the screw ones and you will be happy.

I am a rail joiner. Never had an issue. The connectors are like 25 bucks for 2 of them, never had issues. Do plan your cuts if that is all you have because it gets old constantly taking 2 rails apart and putting them back together. I also have a 3000mm rail (118")

I can join all my rails together and cut about 270".

I love my TS-55. It makes me 50 bucks a door when I trim one edge off for an investor I do quite a bit of work for. I usually have a house full of doors to cut down at least once, if not twice a month. I make him deliver them and pick them up. I dont transport them for that price.

10 doors from a house, about 30-50 minutes of work, thank you!!!
