Hi, at my current job they want surface mount railing installed to an existing deck. (It is 10' high) In the past I have added in blocking where the posts need to go not a big deal, however, this deck has double rim joists so I am not sure how to screw in the flat blocks to secure the posts. Has anyone encountered this before?

I would say to hire a contractor to do the work needed! They will know!

that can be dealt with by using a finegalin shim to seat the anchors at the proper depth so the brackets will be able to bear all the offset.
