I hear you there, the best I've come across recently is "Wolfs Head" and the worst is "Tarco". Using synthetic more and more.

Its always been saturated paper. Cardboard, some glossy paper thats the minimum. Rags make it better.

Ingredients mixed in a beater, then laid out on a large fabric mat which goes thru several rollers to squeeze the water out. Then on to the dryers 3 foot diameter steel with live steam inside. We had about 30 or 40 on the line. At the end it is cut into 3 ft wide rolls 4-6 ft high, then on to the shingle mill to make felt or shingles.

That place goes 130-140 degrees in the summer. One of my first jobs after high school. Allied Materials. Stroud, OK
