Generally speaking here, well really it depends on the window size. Like i would say a 3o window would just have 3 2x6 nailed together with plywood spacers. On walls that bear a larger load i would go with triple 2x12 and plywood spacers. Same 2x12 thing goes with larger, lets say 8o windows.
