Stairs Handrail Wood Baluster Window

Property Room House Stairs Floor

Stairs Property Baluster Furniture Room

This is the stairway in a 1865 house that my cousin owns in bay city Michigan. About 15 min from where I live. Bay city back in the late 1800's was a major sawmill town because its on the Saginaw river and allowed easy transport of logs. Many fine old house around here.

I am going to restore the back porch he started on back to its original glory. Plus it's in the historic district and must match the same style.

I will get some pics of the inside next week. The inside is all original and the trim work is.....? I will let the pic say it. I never seen 5 piece rosettes on the casing .

I love that some idiots didn't paint it. It makes me so mad when I walk into an old home and someone painted everything
An but it was painted over at one time. My cousins husband grow up in that house and he said that on sat afternoons all the kids and both parents worked on stripping th paint off. Acetone in 5 gallon buckets and steel wol he said they used. This would be in the early 70's they stripped the wood. They did a good job. His mom was driving force behind the restoring of the house.

She now lives in a home because of her age. In the basement there are real tree trunks holding up the beams of the house . There is so much to look at that you run out of time and forget to take pics.

Maybe it's the same everywhere but alot of these old houses on center ave and back streets were converted over to apartments . And not high paying apartments either. Very low income type people rent them. Also alot of them were covered in alum siding to. Ugly
