I am installing laminite flooring in my home and the kitchen area is raised about a 1/4 of a inch over the rest of the floors in the home. How should I deal with this situation?

There is vinyl in the kitchen,
right?
Pull the vinyl, pull the underlayment, Voila!!
I'd use hydraulic jacks to lift the rest of the house flush with the kitchen. Save on materials that way.

What are you trying to accomplish first? That's a pretty important piece of the puzzle ya left out.
