Hi Guys,
I'm running a 3" stack for a toilet from a second floor bedroom down into a basement utility room. Its a remodeling project adding a bathroom. Ran into a situation for which I can use some advice.
Currently have horizontal 1 1/2" drain pipe going into the end (with a reducer) of a horizontal 3" stack that then goes out to the septic. The 1 1/2" is a drain for a couple of sinks.
I need to tie into the end of that 3" with my new 3" from upstairs. Again this is a horizontal portion of the run, sloped appropriately. That means displacing the 1 1/2" drain pipe.
If I do the above, I'm going to have the 1 1/2" and my new 3" running parallel to each other. I need to tie that 1 1/2" back into the 3". Can I use a 3" wye with a 45 coming off the side. Add another 45 to the existing 45 to turn the wye into a 90 where the 3" and 1 1/2" run next to each other?
Not sure what code is or the proper way to make this connection. As you may have surmised I'm a homeowner. I have licensed plumbers coming Monday to do the bathroom rough-in and I agreed to have the stack ready for them.
