Went to do an estimate today and went to the wrong address. I thought it was #115, turns out it was #135. Ooops.

I am trying this out right now. I like it for a lot of reasons. Simple and looks nice. Also it lets a client add or subtract items...

I usually trench for the beams. Dig for piers as usual. Line the trench with barrier cloth. Toss in 2 or 3 inches of gravel on top of cloth. Place beam on saddle/concrete pier.

$500 a day sounds pretty good to me. If he works for you now, I assume you are paying him around $80/hr. Good for you if you can manage that, I just don't think I could make a go at billing someone...

In general I would say the bricks are very good quality on this house for the age. Very well fired. Very solid house. Minimal, if any settling over years. Some drainage issues due to backyard sloping...
