I think properly cleaning them is more important than anything.
I've pressure washed aluminum siding, cleaned with TSP solution, then coated with Sherwin Williams A-100 in the past.

I too, suggest grabbing a bag of portland cement...

I too, suggest grabbing a bag of portland cement and mix some of it into your bagged mixture, you won't need to add much..but this is going to give you a much nicer blend to work with when it comes...

I think it boils down to what type of work you do the most.
If you typically work on large on going projects - corded is probably going to fit your needs better.
But for someone in the service...
