If you decide to use a wire brush,either by hand or power,it would be a good idea for the brush to be either brass or stainless. A regular steel brush can turn the surface black from carbon deposits.

I did some research on this kind of thing a few years ago. There is info out there. I think the way people kept the heat down was to separate the fire from the smoking area.

we did a lot of work at this place this past year. They put in a pool and I built walls with precast caps, BBQ, fire pit, and fancy water feature.


Our guys did a real nice job on pavers...
