Perfect way to look at it. Define which part of the 200 lb load is DL and LL as it needs some factor of safety then use the tributary area, weight of beam and weight of the associated walls to arrive...

There's very little cost savings using energy efficient windows. Most of the heating and cooling energy required is affected by how effective your wall insulation is. I don't really think it's worth...
