Around here it doesn't move much so by the time the yard sits on it and we need it it's extremely dry, I have never painted it, just a natural finish.

I've never built anywhere there didn't have to be frost walls on footings, why not go that route? Then pour a rat slab.

Just don't look at the details, they are built completely opposite of the way a house is built. Lots of caulk and tape to rely on.
It's a shame really for what they ask for them how ****ty they are...
