Don't know why it didn't occur to me earlier, but I could see a sort of pocket door/drawer setup working really great for an opening like that. It would be fun to design.

why not cut a hole in the concrete .dig a hole .pour a peir with a base and set the post .concrete pad is separate ,it can settle in the future and deck stays stable .might be easier .

To trim I use the CMT bit with the triangle teflon bearing. The bearing doesn't spin and won't leave tracks on the edge. To break the edge I'll use one on the bevel bits.
