Psssst... The Makita splinter guards are better than the Festool and a fraction of the price, here in Tx during the summer months the Festool splinters fall right off but those Makita guards hold up...

I did take it down and oil like Paslode suggests, and after I did that it continued to misfire, I didn't shoot that many nails after oiling it though, maybe there is a set in time after oiling?

We use Those Mr.Clean Magic Erasers all the time for cleaning marker and other smudges and marks.

Should Work fine for your needs, I would avoid using any chemicals if possible.
