Rip a 2x8 down to 6" wide, problem solved. I pay about $20 each for Fiberon sleeves at Lowe's. Not sure how many posts you have but your clients have to understand they're limited in their options...

Get yourself some post sleeves that are the right...

Get yourself some post sleeves that are the right height, let's say 36" high. Drop a shim in there then put your top cap 2x6 on top and screw down threw. That way you don't see the ugly shim...

Dump mine into rentals too. Once had 60 and there was weeks/months I hardly worked while they made good money. Sold it all (whoops) and started deckin - now working to get back to that level by 50...

Yep anything outside city limits is the wild west here. No permitting, no building departments, nuthin for the homeowners to rely on other than the hope their builder knows what he's doing.

Not true. I meet with my trex rep once a month and we go check out completed projects - trex, PT, kdat, doesn't matter. Called him the other day to ask a question about a fastener for a non trex...
