Chicago Warehouse Roof - Lightology roof replacement

In 2006 we were contracted by Lightology, Inc. to replace the roof on their 25,000 square feet warehouse and showroom on Fullerton in Chicago. The existing roof was a muli layer tar and gravel roof which was leaking in numerous areas. Several repair attempts had been made but were unsuccessful.
This commercial roofing project consisted of tearing off the existing roof to the gypsum substrate. The roof type that was installed was a liquid applied elastomeric membrane over cement board.
The cement board was adhered to the gypsum substrate with low rise foam adhseive. The seams in the cement board were primed and sealed with fabric faced butyl tape. Then a base coat of solvent based elastomeric (SEBS) was applied and later a top coat of white reflective elastomeric was applied. The elastomeric was applied at 3 gallons per 100 square feet for a substantial 24 dry mil thickness.
Due to the reflectivity of the roof, this is truely a Chicago cool roof, which will aid in the summer time cooling.
