Hi ALL: I have been hand banging for years and now my shoulders are shot and am looking to purchase a good light weight coil nailer... what are your opinions as to what/model/price is the best from your experiences and maybe even where to purchase a good one in new or used condition ? I am a little leary of EBAY bargains though. JIM

If your a full time roofer then there is only one real answer. Hitachi,Hitachi and nothing but an Hitachi

We went through a bunch of guns, Bostich, Hitachi, Sencos, Excell, . Most of the guys we had toward the end (the company closed down 12-31-05 :sad: ) favored the Hitachi. Having said that I bought a DeWalt recently, no problems after ummm...errr.... 30 square? :thumbup:
Hard to disagree with the Hitachi vote I would say.

I was snooping the web the other day and saw a generic gun for $79. I got thinking at that price you colud just buy a new one every three or four jobs .....:jester:

Now, about 35000 nails later it's still working like a champ. I've gotten my money out of it big time!

Believe me I have considered that option of trying a cheaper one (Harbor Freight ) on sale for apprx. $100.00 as long as their product is trouble free (for awhile) and is relitivlt fast in response time between nails, that is.

i have been doing several roofs lately and own the bostitch. i really like it. though roofing is not my normal fair, it does put money in the bank and food on the table. i don't know how long it will last, but for the 12 months it has done wonderfully.
I have a Bostich and a Hitachi.
The Bostich is extremely heavy duty and can take a beating, and easy to load.
The Hitachi is lightwieght, which nice for extended use. It is built extremely well. A little more time to load since the magazine and chamber are opened seperately. I have problems in cold weather driving nails all the way, because it is so light.
In cold weather I usually use the Bos. But in hot weather, I grab the Hitachi, becuase the depth of drive is nice.

We run Bostitch nail guns here. I have a Senco that one of my roofers uses religiously. I have always opt for Bostitch and won't buy another brand name.

We've run Bostich for years, I have no idea how old the used gun I purchased years ago is, other than being heavy that thing still fires as quickly and consistantly as the 5yr old gun I bought.
I see the new bostich has a nose adjustiment on it so setting depth is as easy as turning a knob that clicks per adjustiment. Was able to put a few squares down on a buddies job that had just bought it when they first come out, very light and ability to make any depth adjustiments quick and easy is great...no more fiddleing with allen wrench or turning down psi, just turn a knob:thumbup: Based off all my Bostich guns I would have no problem recommending or buying more...which I plan to do shortly since they have the new framing with positive placement tip framing gun...dual purpose to make more money

Maybe some of you don't use the guns as often as others. We ran Bostitch staple guns for years and now Hitachi nailers and none of them last more than 6-7 months.
For instance, we put on around 20 square this afternoon with two guns. That's about a box of nails.(7200)
I sort of go by Menards. If they sell it, it is probably not professional grade. Fine for small uses or homeowners.
