I have used them before but prefer for the $50 to notch my 6x posts out. I have had some customers comment on the look of bare metal on their wooden deck and it was enough for me to stick with the old tried tested and true. They function just as they were designed, I've had no problems with them.

Edit: ^ beat me to it

Yes, I use CC caps sometimes. Sometimes I notch. If I'm dropping a beam onto 15-20' tall posts, I'll use the CC caps.
Posts under 10' are usually notched, unless folks want the hardware as a design element. Then, it's usually powdercoated.

What part of the process do you think will be sped up by using them? and if you're going for speed, use the CCQ hardware w/ the SDS screws.
Much faster than drilling holes and installing (6) 5/8" bolts through the CC caps.

Yes, you can use them on a 2nd story deck. However, they are not enough by themselves to deal w/ lateral loads. You'll also need either knee bracing or decking face-screwed at an angle to the joists. You might want to take a look at this thread - 2nd story deck w/ CC caps.
I'd recommend getting an engineer involved to dial in the load requirements (lateral, shear and weight).

Mark I am thinking sliding down that hill would be a bad thing, X 100 with the end of the creet pump hose in your hand. J.
John, luckily, it wasn't in my hand.

We have pumped over 20 yds. of crete, into this project, so far. The driller, with his backhoe, leveled out some areas under that deck, so it wasn't too bad.
