We are using an AM station that broadcasts " Rush Limbaugh "

That would be our primary democraphic.
Never think for a moment that just because you are advertising on a station that has Rush Limbaugh is a feather in your hat. You are passing by a large demographic of people that would never listen to a station that carries his bile and lies. I would never let a contractor that promotes his hatred step foot in my yard.

And this thread takes a crazy turn towards politics. Lets talk about religion next.

By no means I support that buffoon, but his demographic is 35-50 years olds, our target audience.
That is my point.

Most of what people tell you will be wrong

Magic:

Don't let the negative people grind you down. Most of what people tell you about ANYTHING is wrong. Do your homework and go with what your gut tells you. If this isn't a "got to work or I'm out of business decision," hey, it's only money. (Of which I don't have much right now.) But I met with a radio rep this morning and may pull the trigger myself, even if I'm swallowing hard at the year-long committment.

The guy who won't meet with "anyone who advertises on Limbaugh" isn't going to be your client anyway. He will find something that will piss him off. He only wants to do business with someone who is 100% bona fide whacko liberal? That narrows his choices to "not many people I'll talk to about anything." About the same as someone who will only do business with 100% bona fide whacko John Birch cardholders. Most people know you are advertising on ANY station because you think it will reach potential customers.

Demographics on Limbaugh listners skew your way. Would you mind sending me a PM regarding what it costs and how big the projected audience is? Like many others, I'm interested in results you get. Good luck!

My results

Soooo....how is radio working magic?
I'd like to know how Magic's results are, too.

I committed to a year-long run on a sports call-in show on an ESPN affiliate. Live endorsement daily plus some taped ads. First four months had decent results, came close to booking enough business to pay for the entire year, though to be successful I think I need to generate 6 or 7 times the cost in gross margin.

However, it went DEAD at the start of summer, haven't had anyone even in or call because of it in over 4 months. In all fairness, nothing else has worked since the start of summer, what should be our busy time. Newspaper inserts, direct mail, door hangers, radio, nothing. This town is totally dead and I'm frankly wondering if it will ever pick back up within the next few years. Is it just time to wrap it up? Open to your opinions.

Like I said in my earlier post, I dont want to brag, it is not my style, but here are the numbers.

578 Calls generated.

89 New Accounts averaging $100 per month - $106,800 a year in new business from Radio Advertising.

A little late in posting a reply, but...I thought the add was great and, yes, radio advertising does work when well thought out and properly budgeted.

Expense to record commercial - $2000
Air Time - $5000.

$7000 investment. 100K in new sales.
I assume you have upped your radio budget to $70,000 this year?
