Don't have the time. It catches up to you when you get behind. I remember working for others. We had a crew of 12. End of the day for 15 minutes it was cleanup time. That's 3 man hours compared to 15 minute hours for me. It's more worth it for me to have a day where I put a couple hours into cleaning all at once.
I have heard this before,,, you have others. Obviously from someone hasn't done it. More people. More mess and very few clean more than they make.
Major upgrade,,,, hook for the tool and a spot for spray can which is always a super pain.

I moght make a fairing or hood, may see if I could make all in one unit that is simply installed in the stake pockets. I have built a lot of custom equipment and getting to the end of that where function comes first and so much easier to tailor when its simple and not worried about some extreme finish. Alteration and addition is easy. A guy builds something that is active too good and gets committed to it even if its not ideal.
We have a big shop for a lot of small jobs. We do rebuilding projects but am kind of tired of them. Being ready for little stuff we didn't know we had a bit ago is what it is and also being able to schedule/cope with weather if we need to.

I came in last night with a truck and trailer, thought it might be raining this morning and wanted things dry.
I am. I am not real complicated and while I can find my way around machine tools use the neighbors on the rare chance I need one. The shop is very universal and can adapt to any trade in short order and does have somewhat tailored bays.
So much revolves around automotive that we try to make it as easy as we can to do what is called 'pre emptive" maintenance which is slightly different than preventive and routine.
m We can drive an old car,,, a brake noise isnt ignored but dealt with most of the time same day kind of thing and moved out when done. I have a storage building,,, this is not it, this is shop.

I can go from parking space to paint booth in about 10 mins. In winter in very cold and snow I park plow truck in warm building,,, if we are headed out early in super cold, same thing. I am not lazy but can find an excuse and this takes some of that away and while I really dont enjoy the work I like having the ability to solve the kind of stuff gets in the way and stops me from what it is I am trying to do. Example is,,, the bad news its broke, the good is a couple hrs and 10$ welding rod and we will be back to the work. I can use equipment would be way to worn out for others.
I just retired a 91 and a 2005 but now the trucks are 96, 97, 99,,, 88 and an 84 and a 14 family truckster. Newest tractor a 76.
We can start/stop any time but I have helpers come at 10 unless there is compelling reason otherwise and work till 4 and one 5-6 depending. Its so wet for outside a lot of days, today I want to head out to rig a machine and eating, doing some chores till then.
