I'm exploring the possibility of offering financing to our prospective clients. Curious if anyone here has any experience with this. I've started to read into Hearth; they have some rough reviews though. Anyone else have any luck with any other companies?

I know some people's response would be "If they don't have the cash, I don't want to deal with them;" which I generally agree, but I'm trying to figure out ways to expand our market a bit, maybe by qualifying more people to use our services.

Thanks

Nope, never. When I was with my dad's company he had a good relationship with a few loan officers and managers at local banks and would steer clients that needed financing their way, but we always built with the client's or the bank's money, never ours.

unless you are a massive company, the best way is going to be to offer it through a third party of some sort. too much risk to offer in house. I am sure you could work something out with a loan officer or bank for a small kick back for referrals.

I see no reason to not have a good third party to direct a customer to. Americans love spending money they don't have. instead of a $30k bathroom, you can have one for 120 easy payments of $300!

Just to be clear, I have no interest (pun intended) in financing our clients projects with our money. I can think of more fun ways to lose money. I'm just looking for a platform that's somewhat integrated with our sales process to at least give clients the option to finance their projects. Just wondering if any of you had any experience or info for lenders that are specifically looking to evaluate and fund home improvement projects?

I'm not a bank. You pay me in full when it's finished.

If you need help with that....go talk to a bank.

Asking about financing is the fastest way for potential clients to get me off the phone.
A certain segment of the population uses financing to accomplish their goals. I’ve found them to be petty and difficult to work for.

EVERY. DARN. TIME.

Talk to a couple lenders. My hunch is you give your clients a link to the lenders site and you're pretty much out of the loop at that point. I would assume you'd get a commission for sending them the client. You get paid and walk away, if the client defaults you'll never even know.
