Stamped Concrete, Dyed vs Not

Hey Fellas,
New here. Thanks for the acceptance.
I am a small GC and have a stamped pour coming up soon. Owners want new stamped concrete (pool infill) to match the surrounding regular, undyed, broom finish concrete. Color selection (slate gray) from Solomon is much darker, of course. I thought about reducing dye to 25 lb bag for entire 10 yds. Concrete sub wants to eliminate dye completely. Of course that saves him $ and I'm confident he cannot tell me or show me a job with undyed concrete.

I'm afraid it will not look as good. Anyone have enough experience to tell me one way or the other ...will it simply be closest match without the integral dye and only using a charcoal release or should i stick to low concentration of integral dye? I know th clear coat will help bring it alive, just don't want to eliminate color and have it look dull and lifeless so to speak. Appreciate any comments. Thanks

For the record, I wouldn't put dye in the mix.

First, not putting due in doesn’t “save him money”.

If he puts colorant in, he charges it to you. And you charge the customer.

What is your goal here? Do you want it to match? If so, don’t color it, and don’t stamp it. Broom it like the existing.

Of you want it to look nice, talk to your customer about what they are looking for, and go from there. Maybe they want a burnt umber accent piece in the yard, with a Roman slate look.

The client told you what they want.
Do what they ask and match it. Undyed with a broom finish.
I don't understand the question.

Last dye job I did, the builder and I handed the owners the color selection chart and I had them circle the color they wanted and sign the chart.

Way too many variables with colored concrete for me to take responsibility.

They want it to match plain concrete? Why?

Go with a light grey with a medium grey release, it won't match, but it will be subtle.

What pattern is it? 10 yards stamped out of the same truck is a lot, if we are doing a big job I split it into 5 yard loads with like 45-60 minutes between batching so we have time to stamp before it all kicks.
