You use those small tubes to caulk an entire interior? That's crazy.

I would suggest trying several different caulk guns. Some are better at small beads than others. Also, try different caulks.

I use the small tubes for a few windows or door trim on remodeling jobs. I like them for that. If I was doing an entire interior I would use the tubes. Do the tubes have caulking coming out when you're done even if you hit the release?
I know people say they have different tips to stop that but i never found a way to stop it.

Decent caulk guns have a release that actually works.

I like the 20 dollar orange Home Depot HDX guns. They work very well.

True, but for that to work, you need a decent caulk. I've encountered some that no matter what you do, it seems like they have an inflatable balloon inside that keeps pushing no matter what after it's been compressed. About all you can do with those is make sure to lay them down over a drool cup.

this is what I’m talking about. I do use the HDX orange HD guns.

Dripless or Albion are what’s up for caulk guns.
If you really want to spend the money my m12 gun is pretty sweet for heavy stuff like Quad and PL. At full throttle that thing can empty a 10 oz of PL in about 2 seconds, kinda scary actually if you’re not paying attention.

I have had a lot of issues with DAP products that keep running no matter what, some are a lot worse in the sun/heat, I think because of air in the tubes which is one of my biggest reasons for avoiding DAP.

Quad Max is usually my go to for exteriors but I don’t think I want to try it inside

Has anyone else had this issue with PL Premium? I just learned the other day with a tube of silicone I think that sometimes it's because the hole is too small, but with pl I use the poker on the caulk gun and it just keeps pumping out no matter what. Bit of a pain. Maybe I need to jam a pencil up there or something.

That stuff constantly runs out of the tube, you can take the tube out of the gun and it still drips

Yeah, I get that with PL a lot, usually it’s just small dribbles but sometimes a bunch of it comes out. I’m pretty sure it’s caused by air bubbles in the tube, I avoid DAP caulk partly because it’s prone to the same issue.

If anyone was curious, I actually ended up using White Lightning Megalsatic on that last job, it's still a siliconized acrylic so it's hard not to wonder if it's at the same level as something urethanized like Shermax but it claims it will stretch 700% which is pretty good, especially for interior. All the other stuff I looked had other complications, Big Stretch, I think, was a 7 day dry time before painting with oil, I don't like DAP and even the Dynaflex was a long dry time, Tower Sealants recommended their quick dry (can't remember the name) instead of the Tower Tech 2 with the harder enamels like ProClassic Alkyd and Satin Impervo. White Lightning and my Sherwin Rep both said the Megalastic was a good option and I've been very happy with everything else I've used from White Lightning so I went for it. It gunned, tooled and cleaned up pretty nice with just water and the Proclassic Alkyd seemed to take just fine over it with 4 hours drytime. The real test, of course, is time but I'm feeling pretty optimistic.

I just used DAP AMP on a job. It had great adhesion to an acrylic shower. It says it out performs silicone. 30 minutes to paint, clean up with mineral spirits.
I just used some White Lightning Optima on a shower and a couple vanities recently and I was happy with that as well, it was a little harder to tool and cleanup (you need mineral spirits) but it seemed to stick well and it's supposed to be way better than silicone.
