We don't get a whole lot of shed style roofs out here in Tucson. Generally everything is single-story santa-fe style parapet walls, balloon framing.
So for a shed style roof (I-Joists for members, LVL (or LSL) for fascia) is it more common to make the top and bottom fascia vertical or a right angle to the top surface. Slope is 1-1/2":12". It'll be standing seam metal with matching wrapped steel fascia. Is this a purely aesthetic call or is there something functional.
I would imagine vertical would be better for drainage at least at the top as the fascia wouldn't be in direct contact with downward rain, but a fully metal wrapped fascia probably makes that point moot.
I'm inclined to frame it perpendicular to the roof as I think that'll look better and a 14" LVL will fully cover the end of a 14" I-Joist.
