Drywall lifts--Telepro/Panellift model 138.2 Vs others...

I've decided to buy a drywall lift due to the overwhelming number of ceilings im gonna be hanging in the next 5-6 months..I just want it onsite for when i need them..

I've used the Panellift/Telepro stuff..basically Panellift model 138's when I've rented from Home Depot in the past, good machines..(they rent something else now)

Wondering if you guys have any opinions on other stuff out there? comparable in features..maybe not as heavy duty -but safe and reliable for a little less money...Seems there are a ton of Chinese made drywall machines out there..they look like knock offs of PAnellift machines

I'd like to save a bit of money but not to the point where im using
a crappy, no fun to use product..

I bought one of the Harbor Freight drywall lifts a few years ago , it works fine.

I used to have an expensive one. About $700+ if I remember right. Chinese crap wasn't available then. I think I sold it. Can't remember.

Now I have Chinese crap. It works just as good. Never had an issue. About $150. I always try to buy American, but I don't know if American is available any more.

Also, check Craigslist. Homeowners buy them all the time for a small job, then re-sell them.

I believe it will lift to 10’ , cable operated, works smooth enough.

It handles 12’ rock no problem , positions it nicely

You will wonder why you ever used a “ deadman”

There is an extension for it the do 12’ if I’m not mistaken

I would also recommend to keep an eye on Craigslist and at the rental yards. I frequently see the Tel pros for sell at half or less than half of new.

I got my tel pro from a homeowner that used it on his basement and garage.

I bought a half price Telpro from our local HD rental desk. Its worth it to have something well built supporting that panel above my head! For only a couple hundred more bucks than the cheap ones.

A neat trick I learned from YouTube, you can use the panel lift to set your top row of wall board as well. Gets it nice and tight to the ceiling, even with 54”x12’ and 5/8” thick!

I checked in on a couple of the local Harbor Freight stores and nobody at those stores thought they sold an extension for the machine they sell..couldn't find one at HF online either..

my deadman (and variations of that) days are long over..

shame cause I really despise buying tools like this one online..

As far as Craigs goes..i see them fairly often but none right now and im getting close to needing it and dont want to wait around during a 'used d-wall lift dryspell' on Craigslist..I do want a heavier american lift..for the high ceilings ill be working for the next two phases of stuff i want weight under the sheet..im sure a chinese lift would be fine..just personal dislike of the willie nillie.,,I might end going chinese tho..we'll see, soon
