Also, on most sites, it's 45-50 year old guys on the crews it seems like.

That's because older guys actually know how to work.

I know it gets old but idgaf, 90% of these dudes now are puss's. Make me sick. 2 guys making top wages forming and pouring a 600 as ft addition took almost 6 working days... same two guys and one helper and we formed and ran the steel for a 5200 sq ft foundation and poured 2 weeks later coordinating around the plumber, because i was there working/pushing. No one's a pusher and defintely wont push themselves anymore.

My father-in-law is doing some part-time stuff for me, he is bored ****tless in retirement, he gets material and stages on the job, does some tractor work and some other stuff. That guy can work most of these guys into the ground at 64, we did 15 by 54 foot RV pad last year for his new rV, 5500 psi concrete, proper footings, 5/8 and a half inch steel, formed and poured in 4 days, a truck ass and an old man in 100 degree days. Built a 15 ft tall carport out of steel and roofed it in about five working days, all welded. Flat straight and square

These guys would be there a month. Drives me nuts. Pay top wages for them to be slow as hell. They do good work but good Lord I could do it three times and make it perfect in that time frame:laughing::no:

Anybody who's any good ends up running a crew for someone in no time. There is so much room for advancement in the construction Community it's unreal. It was very good when I started in the trades almost 20 years ago now it is wide open

When I was hiring I couldn't even get some losers to an interview. One idiot said he only works hard if he gets paid a lot. I also lost an employee to a drug addiction, he was a good worker but couldn't shake the habit. Refused to get help and I offered to help as well. I look for him on Hastings when I drive thru there.

Built a temporary shelf. Just wanted to clean up the front of the trailer and see how I like it. Man there is a lot of space in this trailer once you get shelves and drawers built. I will move this shelf back twords the door eventually when I build the v nose out.

The best younger workers I’ve found were all athletes. I’m not a jock but these guys are used to working hard, being coached and yelled at without getting their feelings hurt, sweating, and pushing themselves for free.

When you actually pay them, they’re happy as heck.

Down side is they usually aren’t going to stay in the trades long term, so you get them for a year or 2 until they go do something else.

Just purchased Ron Paulk's ART plans. I'm pretty impressed by the detail for sure. Cheap and it will save me some time. I'm not using all the plans of course but definitely some good ideas in there.

Working on my own paulk type trailer myself. You need the drawer locks,despite what Ron says on some videos.
I built mine without locks and lost some drawers on my first test run
I retrofit the smart style locks and will take it for a drive soon

I did mine similar. I used pan head lathe screws that sit in a hole that keeps them closed. Just need to slightly lift and pull to open. Every now and then I have one open. Ill take some pics the next time I'm out there.

What are these smart locks you so speak of?
