I know someone who puts the CMT fiber cement blade for the TS-75 on his Kapex.

I like electric shears for most cuts. Can take them up on the scaffolding easily too.

I got a fiber cement blade for circular saw, works great for what we are doing.

P.S. to the negative responses, i did search the site before posting, telling a client not to use the siding of their choice because it "sucks" is terrible business advice, good luck with that attitude.

It's up to me to educate the client I simply won't use anything just because the client says so. I actually refuse to do Hardi, I don't do much exterior work so it doesn't matter to me if I don't get the job.

Hardi is popular so it's very likely that is what a client will think they want but it's not the only option.

I totally agree. All the hype with hardi doesn't make it the best product. I have see so much of it poorly installed, by so called good installers. Does not like to lay tight. I have never installed it nor do I plan to.

I've installed zillions of feet of fiber cement. Both Certainteed and Hardie. I don't like installing either anymore. Especially when the local EQ bodies are cracking down on dust.

I have removed a ton of the old LP siding. If I had to reside my place, I would go with smartside or vinyl. I am assuming the new LP siding is nothing like the old crap.

I've done a bit of stateside and it is so much easier and cleaner.

All that being said we usually use the cement board as it is still a good product but half the cost where we are located. The thing that bothers me the most is that the various cement board companies seem to have inconsistent mixes or the change their formula from time to time some times for the good, some times not. Does anyone use canexel anymore? Used to use that a lot but not much anymore. I hear people talk about caulking between the joints of the cement board and smart side. Is that a common method?

I currentley am doing a job with canexel. I like it. I have put on hundreds of bundles in the last 10 or so years. never had a problem with it and have done most of it by myself.

You must be in Canada. Last I knew Canexel can't be had in the states. Biggest problem I ever saw with it was if it was not keep covered and got wet then it would shrink.

I’m from Canada, the reason most people around here stopped using it was that it wasn’t as forgiving during install and the finish wasn’t holding up as well as other products. As far as shrinking it was hardie plank that was the worst.
