I don't know if you will ever get anything that will last forever, getting a year out of a moderately priced pair seems to be good enough.
Perhaps true, but I'm not willing to settle for that. Everything I buy I'd like to have last forever. While that's certainly not always possible, it's the goal.

I have a friend who is a carpet layer and he has the nicest knee pads I have ever seen. Silicone implants, problem is his knee looks like a boob.
If he starts taking them out to expensive restaurants or buys a convertible to impress them, we'll know it's gone too far

Now thats one thing I know I've never seen is a knee with a nipple on it!

do tile work so I'm down on my knees a lot, for long time. Always hurting for days, I have tried the type that you get at the big box stores (4 different one's to be exact). In december I bought pro-knee pads. but I didnt get a chance to use them till mid january due to knee pain off work. Then the doctor said I have the start of arthis in my knee's.
well Im back to work with proknee, and have spent about 3 day straight on my knee's "NO PAIN" I was completly surprised.
what the do is transfer the weight to your shins, not you knees. It took a couple of days to get use to them , and they look funky but who cares.

the way I look at it the price 170.00 "ouch" is less than 4 hour working on my knees, and I lost a few weeks not being on my knees.

I've tried 'em all for years, and I finally just went back to the $3 cheapies made from foam. I wear shorts all year 'round and those velcro straps end up really aggravating the skin. Plus I don't do any one trade all the time so most of the time they're in the way. But then you need 'em and don't have 'em, like yesterday I spent all day kneeling/squatting around a slab doing concrete work and couldn't hardly stand up afterwards and they still hurt today! I'll look into those expensive ones......

Bob, those implants never end up looking like real knees. Any man will spot them a mile away.
I have been using some craftsman geltek kneepads. They have velcro attached pads one for smooth work and one for rough work. The key that I found is they have only one strap. The second strap always seems to make them slide down and protect my ankles. These seem to stay put and are very comfortable. No rash around the back of my knee. I often wear them the entire day and soon don't know I have them on. Even went to the store with them on the other day.

A lot of guys over here are now wearing work trousers with sewn in pouches that take foam pads. Not used them myself but you probably dont get that chafing.
I haven't tried them either, but they looked interesting

I think Deluth Trading has the trousers with the pad pocket in the knees.

I use the strap types and hate them but they do save the knees. Like others have said though, I never seem to have them on most of the time but wish they were built right in.

Had the Arthro surgery 2 years ago and don't want to go there again.

a few months back i found out i have bursitis in my right knee, from years of volleyball, weightlifting, being a catcher in baseball, and more recently running countless feet of baseboard and 1/4" round

anyhow at the time of finding out about my knee i went out and bought a set of kneed pads that look like hockey shin pads almost but with nubbys that stick out on the sides which make kneeling more stable. their gel filled and have a large strap which goes across the back of the calf and the lower one midway between the ankle and lower calf. the best thing about them is how if they do slide down their still long enough that when i do kneel they make it so my knee isnt contacting anything and all the weight is on my shins

much better than the old foam ones.. but $70 canadian

A great deal of my time working is spent on my knees (no crude comments, please), whether it be indoors or outdoors. I got a set of kneepads for the first time a few years ago, as I noticed them gaining popularity among workmen of all trades. The first pair I got were comfortabe, and had hard plastic knee caps. Well, the first time I squatted down on a smooth troweled concrete floor in them, my one knee slipped out sideways due to the hard plastic cap. Plicture doing a "split" on your knees. I pulled a groin muscle or something, because I sure was sore for a while. After that instance, I threw the pads out with the hard plastic caps and got a $3 pair that are just all foam rubber with a velcro strap. That's pretty much what I've been using ever since, but I've gone through several pairs. They don't last too long (maybe a year), but they are only 3 to 5 bucks a pair. I'm about due to shop for a new pair, and I thought I'd ask for recommendations. It seems like there must be a pair by now that are considered "the best" by a lot of people. They need to be non marking, for kneeling on finished flooring from time to time. Help me out.

Are you looking for the Soft Cushion KneePads or Elastic Kneepads ?
