I've built a lot of decks, including composite, but i've never had to price/bid a composite deck with vinyl hand rail. judging by the cost of composite material in my area (Charlotte, N.C.) I should charge about $10-$20 per sq. ft. & about $20-$45 per linear ft. for vinyl hand rail.
(MATERIAL ONLY) Does any one know if that is accurate? I don't want to screw myself or the home owner......

As I said, "judging by the cost of materials in my area........."
(In other words, I already did that) I just wanted some "useful" advice from some one exp. in pricing this.

If you have the costs from your suppliers, what the heck are you asking from us? Your question makes no sense in the context you posed it.

Composite decking is expensive.
Synthetic railing is expensive.

Is that the answer you wanted to hear?

Never Mind

What is so hard to understand? I just wanted to know if I was in the ball park or way off, that's all.

SWAY, "what we seem to have here is a failure to communicate" COOL HAND LUKE. YOUR post is clearly refering to (MATERIAL ONLY). WTF does what i pay for material have to do with your pricing:eek:. get your mat quote, add your %, and away you go.......G

I'd say your prices are too high.

$5.43-$6.79 per sq. ft. and $13.28-$23.58 per lin. ft., would be more in line.

Waiting for a straight answer about prices from these guys on this site is like waiting for dialing for dollars to call your phone, but every time it rings you answer it by saying DAILING FOR DOLLARS HELLO, and waste your time. If these guys did give you a price would you believe them?? "After all it's just the internet. Did you all say internet, I'm talking about da Internet." Allen Iverson Nov. 2005

This ain't f*%kin' Prices-R-Us, we don't owe him anything. "Waitin' for a straight answer about prices" - give me a f*%kin' break.

This is just another dumb-ass "how much do I charge?" thread - it's getting exactly the responses it deserves...

sway is just another noob -

Why would he expect a straight answer, he didn't even ask a straight question....10-20 a square ft and 20 to 45 a lineal foot....for what? Geo deck, TT, CD, Best Deck Azek. Then go to the railing and the disparity is even greater. Can he use the numbers he has...sure. There you go straight answer.

Why would you want to ride anybody's ass for refusing to do the most basic of tasks for someone else?

I try to look at what someone ask, (as long as my glasses allows me to read correctly), regardless of how they ask, because sometimes, for reasons we have no idea of, the words may not come out correctly or in the proper manner.
I hope I never appear to be rude in my answers as they are just "my" answers or opinions & I hope they offer some direction at the least.

But, when one wants to know what they should charge for their area, would they not have to ask people of their area?
Another thing is we all have or should have our own client income bracket we work in, ie: first time H/Os, middle class H/Os, upper end H/Os.
Then comes our overhead we need to know, yuppers, cause that plays a good part in pricing anything.
Now to the point a "price, per sq ft." then infamous words we all hope we are in the right range to either get the job or & most important, make money.
If anyone and I do mean anyone can say $10 to $20 per sq ft, $20 to $40 per ln ft is even close to accurate or within the price range to be fair. Then ask (Materials only), I get this kitty kat look and say WTF??
No matter how many times I scratch this ole head, I think I am missing something here.. How high is this deck off the ground, how many levels if any? Stairs? Canterlever support? Post needed? Depth of frost line? Ect ect ect.
Materials only as was suggested to him, "go to local supplier"
But all in all if ya build decks or anything you know prices you need to charge more than anyone else does or even could.
The question I think he is or was looking for regards to vinyl hand rail installation and if so could have asked the difference in time typically takes vs wood handrails and he probably would have recieved some respectable feed back.

But that is just my thoughts and or my opinion... :w00t:

I not been here long, but I do believe as with anywheres people are people, good, bad, and in between.
People in general are always willing to offer a hand when properly asked or offer their opinons if asked, but if asked to do free work for others they never have heard of before, I still have leaves that need to be raked

Happy Turkey Day all...

Hey Mac, I know "this ain't f*%kin' Prices-R-Us" & I never claimed anyone owed me any thing, If you're too stupid to understand the simplicity of the question then I'll help you, I only wanted to know from people in my genneral area if I was accurate/close in my assumption or way off, I never asked for an exact price & would never expect it. If that's not clear enough for you, let me know, I'll be happy to help further your education seeing as how you apperently dropped out some time before 5th or 6th grade. B.T.W. I've surrvived a lot of f*%ked up places & sittuations in this world, "A PUNK LIKE YOU COULD NEVER ANGER ME & CERTAINLY NEVER SCARE ME AWAY!" Happy Thanksgiving Mr. Mac, I hope this has been as enlightening for you as it has been ammusing to me.........
