I've built a lot of decks, including composite, but i've never had to price/bid a composite deck with vinyl hand rail. judging by the cost of composite material in my area (Charlotte, N.C.) I should charge about $10-$20 per sq. ft. & about $20-$45 per linear ft. for vinyl hand rail.
(MATERIAL ONLY) Does any one know if that is accurate? I don't want to screw myself or the home owner......
I try to look at what someone ask, (as long as my glasses allows me to read correctly), regardless of how they ask, because sometimes, for reasons we have no idea of, the words may not come out correctly or in the proper manner.
I hope I never appear to be rude in my answers as they are just "my" answers or opinions & I hope they offer some direction at the least.
But, when one wants to know what they should charge for their area, would they not have to ask people of their area?
Another thing is we all have or should have our own client income bracket we work in, ie: first time H/Os, middle class H/Os, upper end H/Os.
Then comes our overhead we need to know, yuppers, cause that plays a good part in pricing anything.
Now to the point a "price, per sq ft." then infamous words we all hope we are in the right range to either get the job or & most important, make money.
If anyone and I do mean anyone can say $10 to $20 per sq ft, $20 to $40 per ln ft is even close to accurate or within the price range to be fair. Then ask (Materials only), I get this kitty kat look and say WTF??
No matter how many times I scratch this ole head, I think I am missing something here.. How high is this deck off the ground, how many levels if any? Stairs? Canterlever support? Post needed? Depth of frost line? Ect ect ect.
Materials only as was suggested to him, "go to local supplier"
But all in all if ya build decks or anything you know prices you need to charge more than anyone else does or even could.
The question I think he is or was looking for regards to vinyl hand rail installation and if so could have asked the difference in time typically takes vs wood handrails and he probably would have recieved some respectable feed back.
But that is just my thoughts and or my opinion... :w00t:
I not been here long, but I do believe as with anywheres people are people, good, bad, and in between.
People in general are always willing to offer a hand when properly asked or offer their opinons if asked, but if asked to do free work for others they never have heard of before, I still have leaves that need to be raked
Happy Turkey Day all...
