I am working a a bid for a customer. They want a roof built over their patio. It will be built with a bead board ceiling and some skylights. Its a porch aside from no floor system. I am looking for a nice way to refer to this space besides calling it a roof. 14x14 with a gable roof and cathedral ceiling. Like I said no floor /deck .
What would you call a roof over a patio?

That's not bad. I keep just keep thinking roof, and that sounds less the glamorous. Then I go to porch. Porch gives the wrong idea. So far patio cover is what I am going with.

Lanai came to mind also.
Had to read this thread. Going to see a potential customer, today, who wants a pergola over their patio. I'm going to try and talk them into a roof.
Had a customer last year, list out all the extras they wanted on their house. A Lanai was one of them.
