Saying one brand is junk because you had one that was junk doesn't mean much.

Same manufacturer has different models (good, better, best) with upgrades available on each of them. Buying the "best" one then adding the upgrades (heavier axle, better tires, better framing, will give you a completely different trailer than the base version of the "good" model.

I think all the companies have switched to torsion axles but there are different load ratings. The heavier load rating will have a larger hub and bearing meaning the parts aren't moving as fast. The heavier axles have heavier tires that will handle a load with less wear.

Spacing of the framing is another issue. One manufacturer will provide different spacing depending on what you will pay for.

Unfortunately this makes buying one difficult, kind of like buying a room addition.

Good Luck.

Recently I bought a 7X14 Haulmark, the best model, then upgraded the axles/tires even further. Take a look at the link page for the Haulmark Kodiak (best) trailer. You will see there are still numerous options to make this a better trailer. http://www.skyline-trailers.com/acatalog/Haulmark_Kodiak_KD7X14WT2.html

I didn't buy it from that dealer, ordered it through a local dealer for a similar price. I just told him what I wanted, including options, pointed him to that site and told him that was what I expected to pay.

You don't always get what you pay for, you always pay for what you get.

I bought a 10 year old 14 ft US Cargo in new condition for $1900. Listed on Craigslist for $2500. It was used to store 2 Harleys and looks like it was never towed.
Have about 5k on it already and I'm very happy with it. I don't see myself ever going back to a truck or van for what I do.

Hallmark are absolute junk, when i started out I had one. Then I got a carmate that I liked a lot but out grew, and I'm currently in the market for a new one and I've found a local company that builds them. advatech flooring, 1/2 ply walls, the framing for the walls is square tube not c channel and it's 16 of not 24 like a lot of trailers are, 16" rims not 15 like a lot are. And at about half the price of all the big brands.
What company is this? I'll be looking to buy one by March or so when my trucks paid off and I like the way "half-the-price" sounds as well as beefier construction.

Looks like an older thread but I'll share my thoughts. I have an Agassiz and absolutely love it, they are made in Manitoba. They advertise that they are the best sealed trailer and I'd agree as I drive lots of gravel road and never have any dust inside. They might be a little pricier than some but they are built very well.

I have 2 homesteaders and 1 United UXT in my opinion the homesteaders are throw away trailers (5-10 years before they rust beyond reasonable repair the United is made considerably better I haven't had it as long as the homesteaders but it's not showing wear and tare as fast however it costs 2 times as much and weights nearly double what the homesteaders weigh
