Any good ideas on making a floor hatch for crawlspace or kits or hardware for this?

I am working on a laundry room with access to crawlspace for water heater and furnace. It is framed with 2x8 and 3/4 plywood.

Flooring will be Coretec Plus.

Any hardware you have seen or used?

I am thinking about struts like for topper and some type of piano hinge to make it easier to open and close.

thanks,

Go to an auto parts store and get a gas operated opener. Just did a 2'x6' floor access and I believe I used one designed for rear mini van door. If you use a piano hinge to pivot on use longer screws the gas opener pushes on the piano hinge a lot

If you don't need a "stairway" leading down, I think I'd make it as small as possible and still accessible and like mentioned....have it pull out. That way there is no hinge you have to worry about stumbling over or other hardware to make life more difficult.

Maybe a piano hinge with a chain to stop it a little past 90 degrees...

I wouldn't think it would be used enough to justify gas cylinders and such
