What will you do for crown stops with this setup?
I considered that for a while. My first wish would be that the Festool stops would fit. If you watch the Set-up & Take-down videos on their website, it looks like the Festool ones would fit.

My second option would be to use theirs.

My third option would be to cut flat (we do this about 50% of time - just due to the size of crowns we do).

My last option would be to look-up Tipi on CL and have him do it for me

I mean they offer a crown stop... :whistling

I'm not sure if you can integrate a t-track of sorts into the best fence. I'm using the Kapex UG setup and I clamp a board to the wings. It's not my permanent setup but it's worked on several jobs.

I spent about 3 minutes on their website trying to find information about their setups with the kapex and wasn't very impressed. I couldn't find the info I was looking for so I moved on.

If the wings integrated with the kapex crown stops, I may be on board. That was the primary reason I built my own wings as opposed to running the UG setup. I even had some reps from Festool out last month and I asked them what do guys that run the UG setup do for crown stops...their answer - they take one side of the UG wing off to add the crown stop.:no:

I'm in the market for new wings but I may end up rebuilding what I have except adding aluminum extrusions for a built in tape and stop blocks.

I’m looking at buying the Best Fence Pro 3. I read some threads about adapting the best fence to other stands, but didn’t see where anyone has the whole setup (using their stand). I’ll be mounting a Kapex to it. Anyone?
I run the best fence with everything but their stand and use the kapex with it. I use the shorter dewalt stand, the one with legs but no wheels. I also have the adapters to make the wings work with my 12" dewalt scms but would only do that for a large crown that I needed the capacity for.

I looked into their stand but was still working out of a cargo van at the time so it was way to big. I still think even now with a trailer I could put it in that their stand is too big. I had my saw setup today on the second floor of a home. I wouldn't have wanted to drag the whole best fence saw/stand/wing setup up those stairs.

I have the clip on crown stops for the best fence. I honestly haven't used them much. Usually I just screw a board to the wings from the underside. I like to have the support go all the way across the saw base. You can still do it with the best fence crown stops but there are a couple problems.

I just made this the other day. I drilled a couple holes in my wings so a 1/4 bolt can fasten this and its adjustable.

The stops for the fence are nice in that if you want precision you can set the stop on zero and then cut off the piece of wood to give you an exact zero on your rule. The disadvantage of these stops is that they can't be positioned very close together.

I have four stops now. I zeroed them and then cut exactly 10" off so that they can be positioned closer together.

Justin has homemade wings with T-track. I think he told me he has 8 stops on his wings and they can be positioned very close together. Comes in handy.

Again, it comes down to how you work. We’re typically at an address for 2 – 12 months. Size and transportation don’t mean much to us – when we move in… we move in. Moving up and down stairs is important and it looks like the big a$$ed wheels are good for that.

I like the big wheels and its length. My partner/helper (daughter) is 125 lbs. soaking wet and I’m 58 years old. I think she/I can lift one end of this thing onto the tailgate and then push the whole thing in – 3 to 4 times a year without problem.

Crown represents a small percentage of what we do and if necessary we can cut on the flat. I prefer to cut nested and I’m sure we could find a way to make it happen (if all else fails, something like Spencer made for his set-up).

I think one or two stops are great. I just don’t think there are that many times we have more than a few repetitive cuts to make let alone the need for 8 different repetitive cuts.

Keep it coming. I’m looking for the one reason I haven’t thought of yet to stop me from spending a grand (with shipping). It’s already in the cart - the mouse is on the Paypal button and my finger is on the enter key

Exactly. How you work and the type of jobs on deck. Some of the feature that I like completely change as new and different jobs come along.

Sounds like it will be a good fit for you.

Something I'd like to get for the future is a section of wing that is long enough to set a stop for door casing sides. I may buy a long section in the near future.

Pull the trigger.
