I'm thinking Theblones has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Just move over here and be our competition. Then you'll see that we don't know how to work hard as you're trying to keep up with your tail dragging. I'm 51 yrs old and I'll bet I can work every bit as hard as you. We Americans can brag, too.
And we don't have to cuss all day either. Makes us work too hard. And we don't put down the women drywallers like oyu do over seas, either. Woops, I got a little carried away there.

Lemme see....
I can have the blones grumping
around my job all day.:sad:
OR
I can have Raven....?????:clap:
Hmmmm:laughing::laughing:

Couldn't agree with you more, Neolitic!! I'm sure he's a good plaster man, but....
Not a tough choice between the two if we were so fortunate to have the choice. Unfortunately, I believe we would have to move north a few hundred miles instead of just going there to fish for walleye and northern. I'm thinking Raven isn't moving here to drywall.

We deal with this a lot. Our problem is the houses are so narrow( generally 12ft wide) that every inch counts. We either run verticle 3/4 furring strips or strips of 3/4 plywood on brick and secure it by predrilling strips against brick. Then we take hilti and drill out 3/4" hole shot of adhesive and 2" piece of dowel in hole. This allows furring strip to be attached firmly. Then we can shim the furring strips to get all nice and level and it is ready for the rock. When the brick wall is real ugly we actually cover the entire wall with 3/4 osb plywood. We follow same procedure holding plywood sheet in place and predrill holes, then drill, glue and plug with dowel. It may seem like overkill but it saves a ton of time shimming out a goofy wall. All this is because we are trying to save space in these narrow houses. Track walls work too, we just get stuck having to save that space all the time. It really does not take that long to do with two people.

Haha, thanks guys! The guy who taught me to drywall was the most miserable person I have ever dealt with, cursing and yelling and never showering! I swore when I started on my own that no matter how annoying the job I would always be cheerful, positive and smell nice! And I have since got a reputation for doing just that....and doing a good job

We once turned the safe-room of an old bank into a kitchen for a bakery. We were originally going to glue and nail furring strips into the morter line but decided to go with a 2x4 steel stud curtain wall because 1) you can plumb it as easily as... a wall, 2) it's independent of the brick's waviness and 3) it makes room for electrical and plumbing. not a good idea if you're struggling to conserve space but if it's a warehouse it shouldn't matter... and like it's been said before in this thread, it's way easier than furring strips.

I'm with you there. I have a 2005 Ford diesel with 100k miles. The fuel pump and three injectors went out. Yep, I'm kinda intolerant this week, too. Work all week to pay the mechanic. That stinks. It has to get better, doesn't it?
