Not having the time nor experience to install exterior doors I contracted a company for this work. The project consist of replacing 2 exterior doors with new Therma-Tru fiberglass doors. The new doors are the same dimensions as the existing ones were. Another part of the project was to install a Neuma patio door where 2 windows were originally. I will be posting pictures of the installation of these doors and would like your opinions as for the quality of the installations. I paid a lot of money for this project and would expect quality work, but in my opinion that is not being delivered. Please understand that I am not bashing anyone, but I expect true craftsmanship with the money that is involved. The company promised this quality and says they will honor it.
The first door that was the Nuema patio door 6068 double hinged. As stated before this door was to replace 2 windows on an exterior wall (the outside is brick). The installer was told twice that there may be an electrical wire run under the windows and to check before the demo work. Too sum it up there was romex under the windows and the installer cut right through it. After he had cut throught the brick and made the opening, the wife ask "what are these holes in these to studs..?" The wife also stated that you could see wires cut flush with the studs. The guy cut through the wires and did not admit it. He even told the wife that he didn't know what those holes were. Electrical problem fixed on their nickle. Several other issues with the installation. The same installer was sent back out to lower the door (it was 3" above the carpet) and trim issues. Installation issues still exist with the door.
The pictures that are linked are of the front door installation ... again there are many problems here. The threshold work and the trim that was used. This door sits in an alcove and the exterior trim that was used is pressure treated wood .. why? Also, look at the threshold work on the interior.
Please I need your opinions on this installation.
Thank you....
