Sunbelt or United??

Hi guys,

I recently took a job where I will have to rent a ride-on trencher, a small tractor, and a stump grinder. I do not use these very often so I am just going to rent them. I am deciding between going with Sunbelt or United. The prices are fairly similar so I am trying to figure out which is better overall.

I was wondering if you would be able to talk about any experiences you have had with Sunbelt and/or United and which you think is better

United always seems to have better maintained equipment then sunbelt to me.

Sunbelt has everything painted green, United does not, that pretty much explains the difference between the two.

I've rented from both, don't really have a preference between them.

I do however have a preference to rent from my local guys that have one or two locations. I know the guys, I know where the profit from the rentals goes....It stays here in my area.

I don't have anything against the Nationwide companies, I just prefer to support what's left of the "Good ole' Boys."

Obviously not every local has the options we have here.....

You have posted essentially the same question in 3 separate threads, you really should keep it all together in one thread. It helps keep things linear, and easier to follow.

I had to rent scaffolding recently. I called Sunbelt and got a clueless kid. I called a local shop and the guy listed everything I needed off the top of his head and gave me a price on the spot.

Our local equip rental has terrible maintenance of their equipment.

No Sunbelt out here.

United or Hertz.

I find it really just depends on what you are looking to rent as you'll find stores are can be out of stock or don't have exactly what you are looking for. So you will need accounts at both or more places. When it is time to do a job you don't want to be caught unprepared.

I have an account with sunbelt, they treat you good if you become a regular, each sales guy can see how much money you've spent with them instantly right on the computer, they will treat you differently if you don't spend much.

As far as stumps. I had seven to take out. Checked rental rates then got a pro to do it. Ten bucks cheaper and he was done in no time
