Is Inventor the name of the program?
I got bored fast, designing kitchens and baths. Can only do so much. My Passion is home design. Took drafting design all 4 years of high school, back before acad. Absolutely loved it and even had my design build by our schools Building Trades class. They choose one design each school year, and mine was selected. It's a lot to learn and obviously have to keep up on all the aspects and codes, laws, etc, but I'm ready for it. I've come to know many property developers in the South Florida area and have solid business relationships with many of them.

Anyway...need to get back to some work right now.
Have a great day and I'm happy I found this site.
Thank you for your input and info. Look forward to further correspondence.

Yes, Inventor is the product name, but it doesn't sound like it will fit your bill. It's more for product design and manufacturing plants. Helluva product though.

Most definitely look into Revit from Autodesk. You will not be disappointed, I assure you. If the cost is too shocking, try Chief Architect. AutoCAD has the building add on. They call it AutoCAD Architecture now, or ACA.

Can't beat 30 day fully functioning trial.

I'm using 20-20 and I'm admittedly not the best at it. It certainly helps sell kitchens and baths that much I know for sure. But I don't think it's possible for regular kitchen designers to get those renderings that have been posted. In fact a 20-20 tech guy has told me this.

I think that 20/20 is over rated when I have my kitchen designer it have funny measurement or 32/84 -1/64 and it dose not show up on elevation but on the floor plan it dose .it can't do a cross section of the wall design on the crown molding to show how they figured it. I have softplan cad I think you all should look Lin to in design kitchen and floor plans and elevation with cross section

Just joined Contractor Talk today. Saw this thread and was interested. The key to 2020 is content. The depth of brand specific catalogs is unmatched. I also love the new interactive renderings. Virtual reality for clients. That's the future.

I'm jumping in to this thread late, but I wanted to share my experience. I've been using 2020 (v11.4 now) for over a year and have spent hours on the tutorials. I am starting to sell my designs (and cabinetry) to clients, however, I am finding the software extremely buggy and not worth the $2700 I invested in it. I try to do client house calls during the week and by the time I get a chance to sit down to do the design work it's either after hours or on the weekend and there is no customer service available. While I do fully appreciate the ability to provide 3-D renderings and pricing at the touch of a button, I am beyond aggravated at how poorly this software arbitrarily malfunctions. I am unfortunately at the mercy of customer support, who, depending on who you happen to get on the other end of the phone, may either be vastly helpful or not helpful at all. There has to be a better way ?.

Great thread to happen upon this evening. I am a custom cab shop and use Mozaik CNC and Sketchup/LayOut for nearly everything that we build.

Last year, I decided to add a couple "builder/value grade" semi-custom lines and spent nearly two weeks burning the midnight oil creating new libraries specific to their products, nomenclature, and pricing in Mozaik so I could efficiently design and order. I swore I would never do that again..sucked!

Now I am looking at another line to add with even more sku's, and I started thinking about purchasing 20/20 to "ease" the pain. My previous two brands have 20/20 catalogs and the new one I am looking at does too.

I am trying to decide if taking another 50 hrs+ entering the new catalog into Mozaik is worth it..or just drop the 2700 for 2020 and just use it for my semi-custom catalogs.

Is it really worth the price? Is the newest version easy to learn for "basic" kitchens?

Cabinet Vision from Planit or Vero

Cabinet Vision seems to be a great product. You cannot count on the Salesman to tell you the whole story though. They make a lot of blind blank promises and then when it comes time they offer another service that they charge for.

Good Product but buyer beware. Get everything in writing.
