I have to caulk in the windows and doors to brick just looking for any advice on the best way to apply quad. Does the old fashion way of spit on finger work fine or is there a better technique. Thanks

Thanks, I've used the Titebond but have had problems with bad tubes, already set by the time I got them. I'd love to use more of the Sika products, just not popular here. Not sure if anyone stocks their chalks.

Probably means they were sitting on the shelf for too long, quad would do the same thing. Sometimes Sika is hard to find, homedepot and lowes won't carry them. Usually the smaller building supply stores have it, I used it to seal some brick around windows a couple years back, so far it's held up pretty good. If I used Quad then I bet by now it would be trash, just from experience using it in the past.

Sika is not available in my area so quad will have to do. I used it before and thought it was a good caulk.
I saw it shrink and crack once a couple weeks after I used it. I thought maybe it was just me but then a painter told me the same thing, he said he got tired of call backs from using Quad. Where do you live where Sikaflex isn't around?

Was it painted or not? I know if you paint it too soon it will get that crinckly look but I think thats the paint layer cracking on the caulk as the caulk cures and shrinks a little. I haven't had a problem if the Quad gets a few days to cure before painting.

It was painted, I thought I gave it enough time but I don't remember. Later I caulked a whole house using Titebond and I never saw one crack, so I quit using Quad after that.

If I recall correctly, Titebond Weathermaster can be painted with water based after an hour, OSI requires a few days, maybe even a week, before it can be painted.

I have to vouch for sikaflex and sikafix products.. there great...

Then can bridge pretty large gaps, easy to tool and is paintable..

My home depot actually stocks some sika products.. also if you have an allied building supply around they stock it.

Osi quad is also good.. sticks to anything but takes way way to long to cure imo..

In a pinch ive used GE silicone to brick around basement windows.. it did the job..
