I know this may sound crazy but i would love to take a 3' wide roll of vycor and cut it up to different width rolls.

From one roll i could get a 16" roll for behind the ledger, 2- 6" rolls for over top of double beams and over top of ledger and a 8" roll for over top of triple beams.

I know this sounds crazy... But im wondering if anyone ever tried this...

I don't see why not. While its cold of course, could get ugly real quick if its hot out. I've done tar paper rolls lots of times for different applications.

Watcha gonna cut it with though. Sawzall blade i would suspect.

We have done this for years. You just need to make a slitter to do it. With the slitters we make it is a two man job to slit a roll into the sizes you need. I will see if I can find a picture of what I am talking about.
It is also much less expensive to do it this way.
Yes a pic will help.

You know it comes in 4",6",9",12" rolls right? Never seen a 36" roll of vycor. Only rolls of ice and water.

The roll gets run through the slitter razor blades are mounted to cut it at the desired widths. It takes about 5 minutes to do a roll. So a 36" roll turns into six 6" rolls ect.. I buy pallets of 3 foot rolls and when it is slit into 6", 9", 12" rolls I save a bundle over buying those sizes by the box or individually.

There is not a chance in hell you can cut through a roll with a saw without destroying it.

I've also done the slitter method, a razor blade sunk into a table and a bolt or all thread run through the roll and bolted down. I don't have pics either but I might be able to sketch something up.
I like sketches  if you could, id appreciate it...
