Well, I think I've got to bite the bullet and get a setup. I know I won't regret it. So, for those of you that have these is there any real difference between brands. I know alum-a-pole is the first and probably best and most expensive. werner makes some too. And there is another company called Titan that makes some. Is there any real difference to all these or are they pretty much the same. I'm trying to figure out if I should just get the cheapest or if I'll regret it.

I was checking out the werner ones the other day. On the box they showed using doubled up 2x4's and more bracing than aluma-poles. I was at lowes so they only had one pump jack, one brace and no other of the required components.

The price looked attractive though.

I have Alum-A-Poles and have been very happy with them. I have a total of 11 jacks and a myriad of poles of different lengths. I'm not sure of the brand name of my planks though.

I'm talking about Werner aluminum pumps not the steel ones.

Unfortunately the local suppliers here can't help me with any prices. Way cheaper to go internet with free delivery. I've looked at the 14" 500 lbs 24' planks made by alum-a-pole. WOW:eek:$$$. I've got the option of getting alum-a-pole pumps etc with Werner planks. More affordable that way. I can also get a Titan manufactured package that is the cheapest overall, but I don't want to get it site unseen. To rent this stuff I'd be halfway to buying a set anyway, so might as well buy it and pass off some of the expense to the client.
Lone and buildenterprise- when you guys splice your poles and go over 24' do you double brace your setups or no?

If it is the same Titan that makes the TitanHV pole shores and suspended deck forming hardware. You won't be disappointed.

I've had 12' extensions on my 24' poles with a single roof brace, no worries whatsoever. They have some sway to them, but are very strong and I'm comfortable with the play in them. Anything over 36' pole length, I think I would find a way to add a lower brace as well.

Finally bought two full 24' sets with workbenches and a couple of extensions a few weeks ago. As usual I wonder WHY I waited so long to invest in the right equipment. The safety of my guys was worth the investment and more.

I bought the Werner package online. Great value. Works well....but they won't get used every day...maybe a few times a year.

I've never used a lower wall brace, even with 36' of pole. There IS some deflection but not enough to feel unsafe. If I was to splice 2 24' I would add a wall brace. Just gotta remove it to get past, then re-install. Good luck standing 48' of pole!

Yup. I have a permanent neck injury from standing a 36' pole. I put the splice toward the bottom now.

You mean the splice is offset? I never noticed. See my post on blades, what do you use?
If I'm using a 24' and 12' with a splice, I put the 12' section down, keeping the center of gravity much lower to the ground. Having that additional weight of the splice 24' up makes it really hard to walk up from the ground.

I have all alum a pole pumps with work benches .
Ive been standing on the same Werner planks for 30 years no complaint there .
Ive bought a bunch of poles on creags list this year for little money .
Alot of guys are hurting and are selling there equipment I'm glade to help . Check it out John

I've got a bunch of Werner jacks and poles. From what I understand, the parts are compatible with AP. I got a good deal on the Werner with the idea that if I needed to expand, I could buy AP poles and jacks later if a good deal arose and not have to worry about not using jack W with pole A. No problems after 5-6 years.

I don't think it is the same company. I'm looking at a place called Badger Ladder out of Wisconsin or something.

Are the aluma-pole pumps made in the US or do they come from overseas?

Yeah they are not the same. I don't know anything about this particular company.
