This was an existing brick fireplace and the HO wanted stone...we did't touch the firebox or chimney. The fieldstone was all hand -picked from the HO's property. The granite lintel was reclaimed curbing from RI and the hearth was granite slabs that were moved from outside the home. I colored the granite with boiled linseed oil and crushed charcoal to quickly add "age" to the lighter colored lintel and hearth. If you look hard you will see two corbled stones that were set for a mantel..... I guess he didn't want one. This fireplace was completed in 2002 but I took the finished pics last year (2011).
