This ensuite bath used to have a large corner whirlpool tub and a small tile shower. They opted to eliminate the tub and use the space to create a large "doorless" walk in shower. The kneewall/bench worked well in this design to create a splash guardthereby eliminating the need for a door. The tile shower was framed, clad in CBU, waterproofed with Kerdi membrane, and featured "Petra Latina" porcelain tile (Olympia Tile) 10x13 installed "half bond" on the wall, 1x2 brick style mosaic for the floor (and wall border), all set with Laticrete 317. Finished off by Laticrete SpectraLock Epoxy grout and colour matched Latiseal sealant. Tile edges are protected with Schluter Rondec edge profile in Satin Nickel. The Rondec profile is perfect for kneewalls or any other protruding edge due to its rounded design. Matching rounded corner pieces finish kneewalls and thresholds off well.
The floor included a Flextherm infloor heating system and matching "Petra Latina" 18x18 tile
The old vanity was updated with custom made cherry cabinets and a matching "armoire" was built for extra storage. The toilet was positioned 90 degrees to its new location and was rather lonely sitting in the corner! A matching granite topped kneewall/shelf was built to partially conceal the toilet.
