Masks

I do a lot of dryrot type work and house crawls. This week has been truly the toughest in that arena as far as funk. Probably 25-30 years of a bathroom overhead supply line leaking. Lots of funk and dust and termites, etc. Things I have never even seen or smelled.

I have been wearing my paint respirator mostly, but it is cumbersome, so I tried insulation paper masks, but they clog or get sweaty, as does the filters on my paint mask.

Normally the funk doesn't bother me once I get cleaned up, but I have been having a hard time breathing for the last three days.

What type of mask do I need to look for? I assume I just need to block dust, but maybe not after this week. What do you guys use?

Re: Masks

Judging by your description you may have been working in a moldy environment.

Keep an eye on your symptoms and get checked if they don't readily clear up. If you do go to the doc be sure and tell them you have been working around mold under a house.

Re: Masks

Organic filter cartridges on your respirator. You can usually find some cloth pre filters to keep them from clogging up too quickly. Wear the cumbersome respirator, it will save your lungs

Re: Masks

Today I picked up the proper filters for my mask. What a difference.
