Did three of these today, they are getting sold so it was just a quick go over the frame and anything attached. ( rust & loose paint). Took 1.5 to go cab back and frame on lift gate.

Re: Come On, Share Some Pictures Of Your Work...

Here is an Aluminum boat we just did last week, wish I could do more of these.
No bottom, just clean and etch to receive new paint for the first time.
We have done other Fiberglas boats for this customer.
Here is one reason to be able to shot different media's
First boat we did was soda, then the next time the customer was redoing the gel custom on the bottom and was complaining about the sanding he had to do after soda blasting to get it down. So I got them to use crushed glass and they loved it, got them thinking and next was a aluminum boat!
The boat had to be blasted, cleaned and painted within a 4 hour window.
( another reason to do it with dry blasting)

Jim, those are my bread and butter out here in Seattle, we've got lots of alloy boats around here. Yes, I shoot dry on simple profiling (new boats mainly) and it goes fast. Stripping paint I do wet.

On this one the client wanted the factory hull side paint removed too as there was quite a bit of corrosion bubbling up under it. Had to use very fine glass since they wanted least possible profile when finished as they plan to leave it bare. Hullside paint was a battle getting it off with the fine especially the heavy epoxy primer underneath. Will run over it with a burnisher to get rid of the splotchy look. Bottom is next, ran out of time on it today.

Re: Come On, Share Some Pictures Of Your Work...

So in my slow time my neighbor does radiators and gas tanks ( he's even done work for Jay Leno).

Diesel tanks seem to come in all the time, the new ones are $$$ and to send them out takes to long.

Anyone else do these??

(And before you ask, they are drained, washed and heated to dry. ).

I do a lot of these for this guy. Few dozen a year.
I have a small whip with a cabinet tip on it to get inside. And a elbow I put on for 90deg blasting.

Re: Come On, Share Some Pictures Of Your Work...

GTO rims.

Not all rims are metal, the owner was telling me only a few years GTO had metal rims like a dish, with a polymer filled honeycomb inlay like these.
The guy was calling around to find how to blast, was directed to a blaster in California that does them with plastic beads
I insured him that I have done many bumpers from GTO, Porsche and vets.
We did these with very low psi and crushed glass # 4 nozzle
The guy was happy and even called the other blaster to tell him how it was done.
The one on the left is after blast
Right before

You know it's a big truck when your head is shorter than the tail gate.

I'd love to have one of these trucks set up for blasting. 10 wheel drive.
Wouldn't like the gas mileage lol
