Blast Hose Life?

Hey guys I have two questions?...

1. How many hours are you getting out of your primary blast hose?

2. And what hose manufacture are you using?

Thanks

Re: Blast Hose Life?

I have never keeped track, when it wears out I replace it?
Depends on what your putting through it
Med glass will wear it out faster than fine glass?

Think my hose is good year?
Have to look at it tomorrow and get back...

Re: Blast Hose Life?

Dale, is your blast hose the metric size that came on the Farrows? I think mine is and it's starting to develop weak areas so I'm contemplating switching over the fitting at the valve box so I can eventually replace everything with USA sized gear. Let me know what you find out . . .

Ya, my main blast hose is made by Semperit and is of a softer rubber compound, it has close to 1000 hours on it and I'm about ready to toss it.
All my other blast hoses are American made and are of a harder rubber material.

I have to post photos of how the inside of the hose wears in areas where there is a tight bend.

Re: Blast Hose Life?

If yours is like mine the coupler at the machine and the nozzle are metric and won't take local blast hose. I need to either find the euro hose or switch out everything. Mine also has close to 1000 hours, the inner liner starts coming loose at the machine end so I've been trimming it back. Might be that way in other spots too.

Re: Blast Hose Life?

Keep and eye on your blast hoses... these photos were sent to me by a friend who blasts in Virginia.

This might look like a normal blast hose from the outside:

Same blast hose from a side angle... notice how the inside cord is worn and damaged:

Notice the difference in the outer diameter thickness... this was caused by a tight bend coming off of the pot:

NOTE of advice: Keep your hoses straight with very few bends and or tight loops... this way your hoses will last a lot longer.

There my good deed for the day and hopefully I just put some extra money in your pocket!
