Anybody Advertise On Craigs List?

I was poking around in surrounding states to see if there were any other blasters out there. Nice to keep tabs on who's around. Lol.
I put some quick adds on. And I do get a few calls.

It's free and easy, so not much downside unless you really want to avoid the potentially lower-quality leads that CL tends to attract.

Re: Anybody Advertise On Craigs List?

I've been putting adds on for over a year

I find along with my web site it's about name recognition.
I always ask my customers where their got our name.

Good free source of advertising.

Just putting it out there to see if anyone else has had good luck with them too.

Lots of the jobs are small but it adds up.

Re: Anybody Advertise On Craigs List?

I just advertise in personals section a lot. Make a little quick cash. Lol!!! But no really, with today's almost free media outlet you have to try to get your name out there as much as you can. Your always going to have those that wants the job done just as cheap as they can or those that only wants to horse trade for work. Just like fishing. Throw the bait out there a lot and see what bites. You might have to throw several small fish back in before you get something that is eating size.

Re: Anybody Advertise On Craigs List?

I agree Benny

Some customers that go to my web site has been on Craig's list at some point
If anything it gives them direction to go.
Plus when they see you name on a list them google and see the same name on a web page it's recognition.
I find almost all business from the web
But starts off as a person to person networking to looking up our name, to seeing us drive by with lettering on our truck.
Many times its just googling blasting to see what's out their.
The new age of computers is the new main stream. And if your not on the highway, ya better get on.

Re: Anybody Advertise On Craigs List?

I have been using the "list" since the first day we opened the doors. Why wouldnt you use any and every "free" outlet possible to get your name out there. I adverstise up to 200 miles surrounding my area, and I have had a large amount of work from that far out. Being located in the mid-atlantic, I get a lot of car work from guys that don't mind the 2 hour trip to drop off, take the wife out for the day and pick up the following weekend. The biggest thing with the list is that you have to maintain/renew your postings. I hit several markets from auto repair sevices to marine to general services. I also utilize simalar "free" classifieds from all my surrounding media outlets. Being a young company and on a limited budget, free works for me. Let them shop. It's how you present yourself that will overcome the "low ballers". I have had several "low ballers" call back and say i found someone cheaper but I respected your honesty and truthfulness and I feel it's worth a little more $ to be safe. Lets face it, there are not a TON of us out there like other trades......painters for example...just my two cents......

Re: Anybody Advertise On Craigs List?

I have stopped using it now. I was wasting so much time going to jobs I was not getting it was getting stupid. Out of about 12 house calls not one got me to do the work. I kept my bids low on these also because of it being Craigslist. A few of them I quoted there on the spot because it was simple stuff and they all said I was way more exspensive than the other quotes them other guys must have been doing it for free.
