Whitewash Exterior Brick

I know this question has been asked a few times but it was years ago and the answers were not really relevant to my application. I was asked by a customer to do some whitewashing to her exterior brick. Most of the recipes online involve mixing latex paint and water, but I don't think that would be durable enough for a FL exterior and entrance walkway. My rep mentioned mixing some conditioner/sealer with some exterior paint. If I can get a durable mixture, I was going to prep and spray and then backbrush to create transparent areas. Does anyone have any suggestions on this?
