Re: Tankless Water Heater Freezing

The tankless gas water heater has higher gas input ratings. The amount of gas used is related to the incoming water temperature and the volume of water moving through the heater. The burner modulates accordingly.

Actually...Eccotemp states to unplug (non antifreeze) units and open up a hot water tap (trickle) when temps drop. Flow sensors can actually detect a few drips coming out of a tap?

Re: Tankless Water Heater Freezing

I would look into the possibility of an odt sensor that energize the water heater when temp gets to something like 37.... Somehow, somewhere, an efficient freeze protection setup?

That, or a recirc pump, keep the water moving periodically in the morning and evening? A double benefit.

I like the idea of an outdoor unit. Here, for the most part, not necessary. But, that's "most" of the time. I would think by now there is an acceptable setup to account the other times.
