Solar Hot Water Systems

I remember Velux use to have a solar hot water system, but can't find it anymore.
Can anyone recommend a current system?

Thanks

Re: Solar Hot Water Systems

Don't know any package but there's plenty of components for them that are really nice. Maybe you could locate a qualified plumber that's familiar with them and put together a system.

Being in Colorado I would think an active system with a heat exchanger so you could run propylene glycol for the fluid in the collectors would be a good starting point, maybe run a circulating pump that is solar powered, these are supposed to eliminate the need for sensors as they run when the sun is shining on them which is when the collectors should be working.

Good luck with your system, lots of nice components out there, of course the nice ones cost more but last a lot longer.

Here's a link to some information on different types of systems, basic but a good start.https://www.energy.gov/energysaver/w...-water-heaters

Re: Solar Hot Water Systems

We had a 70s version back in the 80s and 90s, that worked well.

I was definitely going to enlist a real plumber for this, just wanted to do some research first.
